The ferry Baldur calls at Flatey on its route between Stykkishólmur and Brjánslækur, which cuts the travelling time to the West Fjords substantially. The new ferry takes only about 80 minutes between Stykkishólmur and Flatey, and a stop on the island is an ideal way of making the most of the trip. Cars may be taken ashore on the island.
